Her open liberal education has allowed Mariaelena Roqué to face unabashed the phobias and philias of Carles Santos and to revise his shows with complete freedom and without apriorisms, helping the artist and composer himself to drive out and banish his personal demons. This Catharsis comes about in each new production.
Throughout her twenty years with the Companyia Carles Santos, one of her premises has been to see that her costumes do not bear the connotation of disguise that characterises the great majority of theatre wardrobes. With her inborn sense of creation, she has upheld experimentation and inmmersion in the fashion of her times. Her costumes remain because they are made of "true" materials and tell a totally contemporary and always transgressive story.
